Camping Safaris are designed for the adventurous budget traveller with an inner quest to experience the ultimate African wilderness. Most accommodations are in tents which are set-up upon arrival at selected campsites while at unique destinations semi permanent camps are provided. Meals are prepared over open wood fires by the expert cook. African Camping Safaris have been described as the best value for those who do not require luxury and comfort in accommodation.
4 Days Kenya Camping Safari - Lake Nakuru and Samburu
Day 1 Nairobi - Nakuru:
A mid morning pick up from your hotel will be followed by departure for Nakuru, stopping at the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley. After lunch proceed for a game-drive within Lake Nakuru National Park to view flamingos, other water birds and various species of plains game with excellent chances for spotting the white rhino as the park contains a sanctuary for the conservation of this rare animal which is an endangered species. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 2 Lake Nakuru -
Samburu:
After breakfast depart for Samburu Game Reserve for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite, via the Thompson Falls and Nanyuki town for lunch, game drive enroute. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 3 Samburu:
Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge or campsite in mid afternoon. Samburu is north of the equator and contains rare, drought resistant animal species, which go for long periods of time without water. These include the reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, the blue-shanked Somali ostrich, the gerenuk or giraffe gazelle and the beisa oryx. Rest of meals and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 4 Samburu - Nairobi:
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart for Nairobi with lunch enroute. In clear weather the peak of Mt. Kenya may be seen and you will by-pass very pleasant countryside with coffee and tea plantations. Arrive in the evening.

6 Days Kenya Camping Safari - Masai Mara, Lakes Nakuru, Bogoria and Baringo
Day 1 Nairobi - Masai Mara:
Having been picked up from your hotel after breakfast, depart Nairobi. Drive to the Masai Mara arriving in time for a late afternoon or early evening game drive, stopping at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint and at Narok town for lunch and re-fuelling. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 2 Masai Mara:
Breakfast will be followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve. You will have a break at the hippo pool for your picnic lunch. At the Mara you should expect to see three out of the big five namely elephant, lion and buffalo though luck is essential to track the other two that is rhino and leopard which are very shy and elusive. A wide variety of antelopes and other plains game can be seen. Scavengers like hyena and vulture are common. Return to the lodge / campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 Masai Mara:
After breakfast depart on a morning game drive in this reserve, which is essentially the northern extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Lunch at the lodge or campsite. In the afternoon you have a choice of three activities- a game drive or a nature walk with our Masai guides; the final choice is a visit to a Maasai village to see their nomadic lifestyle at an extra cost payable directly to the Maasai villagers. All activities end at the lodge / campsite by 06.30 p.m. where you will retire for the night after dinner.
Day 4 Masai Mara - Nakuru:
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart the Mara region for Nakuru for dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite, stopping for lunch enroute to Nakuru.
Day 5 Lake Baringo - Bogoria:
Early breakfast then proceed to Lake Baringo for an hour’s boat ride which enables you to see hippos at close range and the bird life that inhabits this lake as over 350 species of birds have been recorded here including some that conform to a migratory pattern, as well as crocodiles and Egyptian geese which migrate all the way from western Europe. Lunch in Baringo then drive back to Nakuru for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite via Lake Bogoria to view flamingos and the hot springs.
Day 6 Lake Nakuru - Nairobi:
After breakfast, depart your base lodge or campsite for a game drive in the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park where there are flamingos, white pelicans, marabou stork and a variety of other water birds that breed in the lake’s alkaline waters. Plains game, Rothschild’s giraffe, Cape buffalo and lion can also be seen. Lunch in Nakuru then depart for Nairobi, arriving in the evening.

11 Days Kenya Camping Safari - Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Samburu, Amboseli, Tsavo
Day 1 Nairobi - Masai Mara:
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel. Thereafter depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve with stops at the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley and Narok town for lunch and refuelling. Arrive in time for a late afternoon / early evening game drive enroute to the lodge / campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 Masai Mara:
Early breakfast then proceed for a full day of game viewing in the reserve. The day will be taken up tracking game with your guide though there will be a break for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. The abundance and variety of game in this reserve is nothing short of amazing. Practically every mammal can be seen in the Mara with a few exceptions. Various antelopes, scavengers like hyena and vulture are common. The reserve contains all the cats that are; lion, cheetah and leopard; sighting leopard needs luck more than just being there but lions are abundant and there are excellent chances for spotting cheetah. The hippo pool is a popular spot to watch out for hippos; with luck, you may catch crocodile basking on the rocks. Elephants, buffalo, the Masai giraffe, wildebeest and the common zebra abound. Return to the lodge /campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Masai Mara:
After breakfast proceed on another game-viewing session. After lunch you will have the option to go for a game drive or at extra cost, visit a nearby Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle. Both activities will end at the lodge or campsite in the mid evening where you will retire for the night after dinner.
Day 4 Masai Mara - Nakuru:
After breakfast, depart the Mara region for Nakuru. The drive offers panoramic views of Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha from afar; this means that you will see them from the main highway. Arrive Nakuru in time for dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 5 Lake Nakuru / Samburu:
Wake up to an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Flamingos and other water birds that thrive in a salt-water environment can be seen. With luck you may track the white rhino and the Rothschild’s giraffe which both have endangered species status. The park is 188 km and is home to cats (both lion and leopard), various antelopes, grazers like warthog and the waterbuck and Cape buffalo that breed near the shoreline. After the game run, depart Nakuru for Samburu via the Thompson falls, which are named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880’s. Lunch will be at Nanyuki, which is at the foothills of Mt. Kenya. Arrive Samburu in the evening, which a game drive enroute to the lodge / campsite where you will retire for the night after dinner.

Day 6 Samburu:
Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu with a lunch and leisure break in the mid afternoon. The reserve is home to rare drought resistant animals that are peculiar to the semi-arid region north of the equator. These include the reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, the Beisa Oryx, gerenuk and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich. Samburu is dry most of the year but is watered by the Ewaso Nyiro River, which rises in the Aberdare’s and drains in the Lorian swamp north of Shaba National Reserve. All meals and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 7 Samburu - Amboseli:
After breakfast, depart for Amboseli via Nairobi. In clear weather, you may see Mt. Kenya’s peak. You will also by-pass very pleasant countryside which coffee and tea plantations. Lunch will be taken enroute. Arrive Amboseli in the evening with a brief game drive enroute to the lodge or campsite for dinner.
Day 8 Amboseli:
After breakfast, proceed on a game drive in this park, which lies in a dried-up lakebed. There are swamps and springs fed by underground rivers from the melting snows of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which give permanent water to the wildlife. The animals seen here include lion, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, plains game and the rare Taita weaver and the gerenuk. The animals are mainly found around the Ol Kenya swamp. If the weather is clear and there is no low cloud cover, you may see the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which forms a beautiful backdrop to the park. The observation hill offers a view of the entire park and beyond. An afternoon game drive will follow after lunch. Rest of meals and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 9 Amboseli - Tsavo West:
After breakfast, depart Amboseli for Tsavo West National Park, lunch enroute. You will visit the Shaitani Lava flows as the area where the park lies is of volcanic origin. The Mzima Springs which contain 20 million tonnes of crystal - clear water from the underground streams of the nearby Chyullu Hills are an additional attraction; various aspects of marine life including hippos, crocodile and fish can be seen from the specially constructed underground glass tank. The animal species seen at Tsavo are hippo, crocodiles, elephant, gazelle, zebra, giraffe, various birds, buffalo, and kudu in a thick acacia setting. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 10 Tsavo West - Tsavo East:
A morning game drive will follow after breakfast and probably view the rock hyrax, squirrels and mongooses as the park contains a large population of these. Depart for Tsavo East National Park, lunch enroute. Here, only the section south of the Galana River is open to the public for game drives; the rest of the park serves as a wilderness for the animals to retreat into. Here the dried up Aruba dam can be seen plus crocodiles at the crocodile point below the Lugard falls. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite.
Day 11 Tsavo East - Nairobi:
After breakfast, your final game drive will follow during which you may see plains game, zebra, antelope, lesser kudu, ostrich and large herds of elephant. Lunch will be taken enroute. Arrive in Nairobi in the evening.

6 Days Kenya Camping Walking Safari in Loita Hills and Nguruman
This is the safari that will take you to the Maasai land. While in Maasai land, you will see the Maasai Manyattas, people in their traditional ways of life and some wildlife before you get to Nguruman Escarpment.
Day 1:
Leave Nairobi at 10:00 a.m, drive through the farmlands at the edge of the Rift Valley and descend the escarpment via the viewpoint with the vehicle to Narok town. After 30 minutes drive from Narok town, disembark from the vehicle at Maji Moto then proceed to Ndarara manyatta for lunch. After lunch, 2 hours walk to the main Ndarara camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 2:
Early breakfast, and thereafter leave Ndarara to Letukunyi; the walk will take 5 - 6 hours through the scattered bushes. Dinner and overnight at Letukunyi camp.
Day 3:
As in day 2, leave Letukunyi camp early in the morning for an enjoyable walk before the sun is too hot. We will pass Narosora for lunch or to buy what might be out of stock. After spending an hour or two in this modern town in Maasai land, proceed to Morinjo for dinner and overnight at Morinjo campsite.
Day 4:
After breakfast, leave Morinjo. Walk through the forest; this is one of the few remaining true-forested wilderness area in East Africa. The walk will take you 5 - 6 hours. Dinner and overnight at Enkutoto campsite.
Day 5:
We have two options,
:(1) We leave Enkutoto early in the morning passing along the left side of the Rift Valley via the Nguruman Escarpment to Nguruman town for dinner and overnight at a local hotel. Leave Nguruman on day 6 at around 11:00 a.m for the transfer back to Nairobi.
:(2) After breakfast leave Enkutoto not too early, walk leisurely for 4 - 5 hours to Njoroi campsite for dinner and overnight. In this camp an excellent view of surrounding areas, which include Lake Magadi, Ngong hills, Lake Natron, and all the way to Tanzania border on a clear day.
Day 6:
After breakfast, descend down the escarpment and through small farms to Nguruman town for transfer back to Nairobi via Lake Magadi and the Olorgasaile prehistoric site so as to arrive in Nairobi late afternoon.
